The Emergence of DCDS as a National Power
The last team with as much high major talent in Michigan as the 2008-2009 version of the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets is the 2005-2006 Saginaw High Team. That team featured Draymond Green who went to Michigan State, Josh Southern who went to Boston College, Daniel West who went to Tennessee, Bobby Lewis and Deonte Wesley who went to Jackson State, Larry Wright who went to St. Johns, and Kuddles Hopkins who went to Carl Sandburg JC. Bobby transferred to Mott JC in Flint, MI and he now has a chance to go high-major, Kuddles is a JC All American, and will have his choice of a D1 school and Larry ended up transferring to Oakland (MI). That Saginaw High team didn't win a state title though, Arthur Hill did. This Detroit Country Day team has a chance to be even better than that Saginaw High team by winning the chip.
Country Day is the biggest team in Michigan and one of the biggest in America with 6'11 SR DaShonte Riley, 6'9 JR Donnovan Kirk, 6'10 Soph Amir Williams, and 6'8 Urbane Bigham all D1 recruits down low. 6'6 Jordan Dumars a South Florida recruit is on the wing, and DCDS also has 3 other soph's 5'10 Lee Bailey, 6'1 Chris Fowler, and 6'4 Kenny Knight that will get D1 attention. 6'3 Sr Wing Bennie Fowler is a Michigan State fball recruit. The best player on this team, and maybe the best player in Michigan is 6'2 JR PG Ray McCallum, JR. Ray is a top 15 player in America for the class of 2010. Country Day has a boatload of talent, and are 13-0. They are currently ranked the #5 team in America by USA Today ... let's see if the Yellowjackets can surpass the latest Michigan team to be ranked that high, Saginaw High at #4, last year.
